Board Of Directors

Board of Directors

Moab Charter School is carefully governed by an elected board made up of community members and parents. The board meets monthly in a meeting open to the public which is held in the Moab Charter School cafeteria, located at 358 East 300 South typically on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:15 pm (see schedule below). Please call the school at 259-2277 for up-to-date information on meeting times, if you would like to be placed on the agenda for community input, or to attend the meeting.

Treasurer - Mike Duncan - miked@moabcharterschool.org

Mike Duncan is a retired electronic and aerospace engineer whose two daughters were public school educated in Boulder, CO in an era preceding the proliferation of charter schools. Both are employed by school districts. One taught K-6 bilingual (Spanish and English) classes and is presently a teacher mentor; the other teaches high school French. Their children attend public district schools in the Denver area. Mr. Duncan has served a total of 12 years in local government, first as eight years on Grand County Planning Commission and four years on Moab City Council. He served as a substitute math teacher in Moab's middle and high schools briefly when he and his wife moved to Moab in 2002. Subsequently, he tutored Utah State University students in math at their local branch in Moab for a few years. He is also an amateur musician and songwriter who participated in a local contra dance band as a singer, guitarist, pianist, and fiddle player. He would enjoy putting those skills to work to enhance Moab Charter Schools’ music program.

MCS Plan Summary

MCS received the school-based mental health grant for the 2022-2023 school year. We have edited our plan to support student success through support staff, such as paraprofessionals.

Through these connections, we aim to improve student mental health, academic and behavioral success.
