We are merging, stay tuned for updates!
Moab Charter School’s Board of Directors voted to merge with Athenian eAcademy during their May 15th board meeting. Following that meeting, Athenian Schools Board of Director’s and the Utah State Charter School Board also voted in support of the merger. The Superintendent of Athenian Schools shared the following note with Moab Charter School stakeholders:
Dear Moab Charter School Team and Community,
I’m pleased to share that the State Charter School Board has approved Moab Charter School (MCS) to become a branch of Athenian eAcademy Schools effective July 1, 2025. State Leadership recognizes that this will be a good fit as both schools share a strong commitment to providing high-quality public education options for rural communities across our state.
Our leadership team has visited Moab multiple times, connecting with MCS staff and witnessing your dedication firsthand. We are confident in your team’s ability to collaborate and support the growth of Moab’s students.
With the Board’s approval, we’ll begin planning for the upcoming school year, reviewing schedules and staffing needs. As I’ve mentioned during my visits, this will be a year of learning together, with minimal changes to MCS’s current structure. We will introduce a Blended Education hybrid program to support homeschool families in the area and may invite current staff to contribute to this initiative.
I’ve appointed Kate Aiken as campus leader, with Yuli George as her assistant. I encourage all staff to share ideas and help prepare for our students this fall. As we embark on this partnership, I ask for your positivity and collaboration to address any challenges. The Athenian team is eager to strengthen our bond with you as we pursue our mission of “Improving Lives” for everyone connected to our schools.
Warm regards,
Jared Ferguson
Superintendent, Athenian Schools
